live, from karaca

Servers don't check on you every other minute here, they don't even bring you your bill. In fact, it's this really weird phenomenon where when you go out to eat you are expected to enjoy the company you're with and take your time. I have also discovered this weird thing that when you eat slower, you actually can feel that you are getting full. Imagine that.

On a different note, every street has at least one convenience store (that sells liquor, beer, and wine) and a coffee shop. I'll let you guess which one's open twenty-four hours. (;

Sarcasm aside, it is interesting to think about how US culture developed so radically different than it's ancestors. Like, why haven't we switched to the metric system yet? Seriously. And, why don't we grow up learning more than one language? I mean you could say the states has a self-assigned superiority they have to maintain or something, but speaking more than one language and being fluent in the metric system makes more skilled and competitive employees. Ka-Duh. Oh, but I guess it risks the possibility that we might not stick out as a nation as much anymore. What a bummer.

Cannot even think above the screaming horns of automobiles outside this cafe.

Tschüss
